Pre-Blizzcon dinner
Who's up for a pre-Blizzcon dinner on Thursday (10/9)?
Where: Roy's (6 minutes walk, down the street from the convention center)
When: 6:00pm-9:00pm
What: The menu (PDF file) - Hawaiian inspired, Pacific rim cuisine; the Hot Chocolate Souffle is really good. Expect maybe $35 for appetizer, main course and dessert.
Who: You!
Why: Because we're more fun than a barrel of monkeys
I figure we can skip out on the crowds picking up their badges if we have dinner first, and then head over to the convention center.
Welcome New Users
Hi, you're seeing this because you are a non-logged in user. If you are a member of our guild, please create an account. We ask that you keep your login name to the same character name as your main, as it makes knowing who you are easier.
I'll check periodically to see if you've created an account. Please check back within 24 hours (or Monday afternoon if you've signed up during the weekend)

Disneyland on Sunday
I'd also like to get a headcount for a possible visit to Disneyland on the Sunday following Blizzcon.
Maybe, depends on time
I'll be heading to Anaheim after work, but don't anticipate being free until 8-8:30ish, depending on traffic. If I can't make dinner, I'd still happily meet up with folks though.
Sunday: no Disneyland for me. Back can't handle it.
Maybe dessert?
Blizzcon website says badge pickup ends at 9pm, so you'll probably want to go straight there.
Any dessert joints in Anaheim open after 9?
Dunno on desserts
Anaheim is not part of my usual OC stomping grounds. But I can try and find out. If nothing else there is an IHOP fairly close to the convention center and they have ice cream, though it's a far cry from salted caramel ice cream.
Mmm... Salted caramel ice cream.
Ice cream
The GF and I found what may be one of the best ice cream joints in LA.
Scoops
We had the red tea/kahlua, passion fruit/jasmine, green tea/irish cream, and salty chocolate. They all get a thumbs up from me.
Also sampled a bit of the hemp and coca tea flavors.
Some of the flavors are vegan friendly (soy-based), too.
I recommend going on a Saturday when they have their full assortment of flavors.
I think they rotate in new concotions on a pretty frequent basis. I recall someone mentioning a bacon (BACON!) flavor, too.
Yes to both
Brandon and I are up for both dinner and Disneyland :)
Oh hai
Yes for dinner most likely, no for Disney. I must fly back on Sunday. :(
Contact info
Could you pass your contact info (cell phone number) on to Fossa or one of us (esa@piratepenguins or aair or kriss)? It'll be handy in case people get lost or are running late.
Thanks.
Fossa's got my #.

Hi guys! long time no see. I
Hi guys! long time no see. I hoping we can do dinner not sure what time we are leaving Bakersfield. I should know more tomorrow. Can't wait to see you guys there.
Hello!
Yes, I'm alive. Been really busy with work, finding work, and moving.
I'll see all of you who are coming to Blizzcon. Would be really cool to meet up with you all.
Meh
Meal restrictions?
Just checking to see if anybody had any preferences on where or what to eat for dinner.
I know at least one of us is a vegetarian.
Also, is there any type of food/place you absolutely do not want to go to?
Budgetary constraints?
Here are some suggestions from Yelp:
http://www.yelp.com/search?find_desc=&find_loc=anaheim%2C+ca&rpp=10&cflt=restaurants
Roy's Hawaiian Fusion
Looks like our vegetarian won't be able to make it, so I'm suggesting Roy's in Anaheim. If it's anything like the Roy's back in Hawaii, it'll be pretty good food (surf and/or turf).
The restaurant is also within close walking distance (6-10 minutes) of the convention center.

Dinner time
6:00pm - ?
We could start later, but Steph and I need to take off by 9. Most everyone else should be staying in Anaheim, so you can feel free to stay as long as you want. And I can catch up with everyone during the rest of the weekend.
Head count
I'm going to try to make reservations for dinner at Roy's.
I'd appreciate getting a head count by tomorrow morning.
So far I have:
Me and the girlfriend
Kriss and Esa
Idunna and Varah
Yo
Hey party people!
ill be in town, not exactly sure when, but i should be able to make it. i have Steve's contact info so ill prob find out from him.
Yay!
I'm excited. And amused: Roy's. heehee... I wish I had a muumuu to wear. represent! :D
Yes to Disneyland, but no rides for me. fear of heights. plus dude... do I even make those height requirements????? damn you tall people! :)
Arr... care for a pint?
Dining with the pirates of the carribean
Steph says you can make reservations to eat in/on part of the Pirates of the Carribean ride. I guess there's a little restaurant/dining area in there. No costumes provided, though.
Blue Bayou!
Unless they've changed it in the last few years, it's the Blue Bayou Restaurant. It's up at the top of the ride where it's kinda swampy as opposed to piratey.
Pretty good food though and I've always found it relaxing. If you go, look up at the ceiling. It used to have a sky up there and sometimes you can see shooting stars.
Heights aren't likely a problem
I'm afraid of heights too (though not phobic about it), but can ride the rides at Disneyland. Most don't show you the height, eg. their rollercoasters are either in dim light (Space Mountain) or give the appearence of traveling on the ground (Big Thunder Mtn Railroad, Matterhorn). A lot of the rides are just riding along seeing the sites, too.
There are a few notable exceptions like the rockets ships and the view from that last drop in Splash Mountain.
Port to Blizzcon?
Man, I REALLY wish I was headed to Blizzcon this year. So many pengs are getting in on the action! My top priority would've been (surprise) getting everyone as drunk as possible. Fear of heights? Never a problem after 6 shots of Pyrat Rum!
Have fun all! Toss back some brew for us stranded Hawaii pengs!

Technically...
Techncially it would probably be a summon. Should be enough people here... Doubt they'd be a portal to Anaheim anyhow, you'd probably have to port to LA.
Meh
Ack, late response!
Can't make dinner, because I land in LAX around 8pm. Then I have to figure out how to get over there. May try to pick up my badge first? Once I arrive and get sorted, I'll call Idunna or Essa or Kriss and try to catch up.
Sunday Disneyland is a yes for me! I love that place.
Dinner at 7pm
Dinner is at 7PM under Esa's real name. :)
Meh
I went to Blizzcon and all I got was this lousy tabard
With Blizzcon and the Penguin events at an end, I'd like to thank all the Pengs and Enshadowed for the great time.
Sorry that I got a head cold and couldn't hang out as much, but the time I had was really fun.
Oh and Bert, I have a Pally bubble with your name on it. I also am willing to give away a lot of the swag I got. I'll post a list when I get back home.
Esa,

fo'reals?
oh man Brandon, you're my hero :)
YES! Yesyesyes!!!!!!!!
As soon as you said the name, it CLICKED. It's always one of those I skim over and tend to bypass. Yay, it won't bother me anymore! I was just thinking about it the other night when I was drifting off to sleep... adult swim was talking about using helvetica neue, so it got me back onto that desert palms one. I should make something out of it now.
Okay anyway, off the topic of fonts... I think the pally bubble and the inflatable ashbringer are being sold through the blizzard store. at least, I don't think they were in the "blizzcon exclusives" section of the catalog. So you could fill up a room with pally bubbles, and jump around in it with ashbringer yelling, "I am the lich king!"
In theory, at least :)
It turns out our internet connection at the hotel is pretty crappy, so pic uploading will need to wait until I get back to Hawaii. I think aair's got the winning pic though-- first ensh-peng dinner group photo #2. hehe
Arr... care for a pint?
Eep?
Are Aair's pics online now? Wanna see that pic from outside of Roys :)
Not up yet
I'll try to download them tonight.

Me too for most of it
I'm keeping a bit more than Brandon, but I'm also willing to pass off most of this stuff. Interesting, I didn't get a yo yo.
The Swagdog mousepad is actually a WoW mousepad-- the swagdog ad comes out. So you could stick a picture of your character in there :)
Um... and I think I messed up my WCW Card game set. I went through both sets, not realizing you weren't supposed to mix up the starter decks. :D However, if anyone wants to teach me how to play the game, I'd be down with that--it's really confusing!
Arr... care for a pint?
Yoyo
The yoyo was from Vasco booth. Nicole picked up two of them.
